Cambridge Judge Business School is always a buzz of excitement and anticipation in September, when our new cohort of Executive MBA students arrive for their orientation week and embark on their life-changing voyage of discovery.

The EMBA 2023 cohort is our most diverse yet. Women make up 36% of the class, 32 nationalities are represented in addition to a wide variety of industry sectors from education to healthcare and technology.

Three of our new students share their orientation week experiences and first impressions of their classmates, faculty and lectures.

“Throughout the application process, the emphasis on diversity (in every aspect) is so prevalent and was one of the main reasons I decided to pursue the EMBA at Judge alongside what I knew would be unparalleled world class faculty.

However, nothing could have prepared me for a truly life-changing week getting to know such an incredible group of humble, curious and intellectually engaging people. I left feeling that the conversations had on these programs cannot be recreated in any other environment. Being back in the classroom alongside senior executives from so many different industries provides a learning experience that truly excites me. You immediately begin to look at the world through a different lens after just one week. This brings so much excitement about the journey ahead.”

“Orientation week was meticulously planned and executed by the fantastic faculty, the lectures and discussions surpassed any expectations and partaking in some of the traditions during matriculation and college dinners left me feeling both humbled and awestruck.

It was an incredible week full of curious learning, excitement, gratitude and inspiration.”

Lee Cortez – Head of International Benefits at Block

“I’m genuinely awestruck by the transformative journey ahead. When my acceptance letter arrived in November 2022, I hesitated because I was uncertain about the potential returns on this commitment. But I took the leap, thinking that if my next best idea and/or next best friend(s) emerge from the experience, then it’ll be worth it.

One week in, and I’m already certain I made the right choice! The caliber of teaching and dedication of my professors, making even the longest lectures engaging, has been remarkable. We dove into all the ‘quant’ classes, management praxis and explored a module on EDI — kudos to Judge for recognising the significance of educating leaders on such a critical topic. All the staff also radiate warmth and hospitality. And those fabled formal dinners? Absolutely magical!

My cohort are a diverse mix of brilliant yet down-to-earth individuals. Our conversations, both in class and over WhatsApp, have already reshaped my thinking. I am humbled because sharing this journey with them is an absolute privilege.”
