At Cambridge Judge Business School, we’re always inspired by the incredible journeys our alumni undertake, and today we’re excited to spotlight Ollie Phillips (Executive MBA 2016), who has embarked on an extraordinary adventure – rowing across the Atlantic Ocean.
Ollie is part of TeamSeasLife, a group of four determined individuals united by a shared vision to conquer the Atlantic Ocean as part of the World’s Toughest Row.
What is the World’s Toughest Row?
Dubbed the ultimate test of endurance and resilience, the World’s Toughest Row is a gruelling competition spanning approximately 3,000 miles, starting in San Sebastian, La Gomera, and finishing at Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua. Teams navigate their way across the Atlantic while braving high waves, unpredictable weather and sleep deprivation. The journey demands immense perseverance, as rowers face salt sores, physical fatigue and the psychological challenge of isolation amidst the vast ocean expanse.
This race isn’t just about crossing the finish line – it’s about overcoming personal and team challenges while raising awareness and funds for charitable causes.
Ollie Phillips: A leader on and off the ocean
Ollie Phillips, former professional rugby player and Cambridge Judge Executive MBA alum, continues to embody the spirit of leadership and resilience fostered during his time at Cambridge Judge. This endeavour is a testament to his determination and ability to tackle challenges head-on.
Says Ollie: “My time at Cambridge Judge Business School taught me to be resourceful, be inquisitive, be adventurous and always determined to drive change.”
A journey worth celebrating
We’re proud to see Ollie and his team taking on this monumental challenge. Their dedication to pushing boundaries, supporting meaningful causes and fostering teamwork is truly inspiring.
We wish Ollie and TeamSeasLife every success in their Atlantic rowing adventure and look forward to celebrating their incredible achievement once they cross the finish line.
